Your data. Clear expectations.

How MarketLab handles calculations, personal information and the limits of this early product. Updated September 28, 2026.

Educational tools, not investment advice

MarketLab provides portfolio analysis and hypothetical planning tools. It is not offered as a registered investment-advisory service, does not execute trades, and does not establish an adviser–client relationship. The results are not personalized investment, tax or legal advice.

Past performance does not predict future results. Investments can lose value. A goal marked “on track” means only that the selected mathematical assumptions reach the target; it is not a guarantee, recommendation or probability estimate. Consider your circumstances and qualified professional advice before acting.

A verified strategy badge means an independent calculation matched the saved report. It does not verify market prices, certify a strategy as safe, or establish that it will make money. This disclosure does not substitute for a legal review of the product; that review remains outstanding.

Private by default

Your saved workspace is tied to your sign-in identity. Using email and ChatGPT sign-in can create separate workspaces, even with the same email address. MarketLab does not sell your personal financial data.

Public reports and strategy publications require a preview and your explicit confirmation. Peer comparisons require a separate opt-in. Sharing never grants another person access to your saved workspace. Report links can be revoked and strategies unpublished, but copies already downloaded by others cannot be recalled.

What is stored and who processes it

We store the data you save: imported transactions and prices, account balances, goals, backtests, verification receipts, sharing choices, support messages and invited discussion activity. Optional peer contributions retain an account association internally to support withdrawal.

Core workspace records use Cloudflare D1, which encrypts stored databases and their metadata at rest. The hosted website uses HTTPS for data in transit. Email sign-in uses WorkOS; ChatGPT sign-in uses the hosting platform’s identity service. Optional price requests go to the selected provider, and requested background calculations send their required inputs to the separate research service.

One-time market-data keys use a browser-to-provider request and are not saved by MarketLab. Provider accounts and hosting services have their own logs and retention policies. We have not independently audited encryption at rest for the separate research service. This is not a claim of bank-grade security, SOC 2 certification or regulatory approval.

Removing your data

You can remove manual accounts and goals from My plan, revoke shared links, unpublish strategies, and withdraw peer contributions. These actions remove the corresponding active records or disable access as described on each screen.

For deletion of an imported portfolio, saved backtests, discussion records, background-service records or your complete workspace, send a deletion request through Support. The owner must process and confirm those requests; full workspace deletion is not yet self-service. We do not promise immediate erasure from provider logs or backups.

Peer withdrawal removes contributed return values and disables affected snapshots. A minimal account-and-quarter withdrawal record remains to prevent a new contribution from exposing the old aggregate through repeated comparisons.

Planning assumptions you can inspect

Balances are snapshots, not live bank connections. Manually entered values are in USD and retain their dates. Add every account once, and include debts if you want a more complete net-worth picture. Fictional practice portfolios stay out of real net worth.

Goal projections apply a constant nominal annual return divided by twelve, then an annual fee divided by twelve, followed by an end-of-month contribution. Amounts round to cents. Targets use future dollars; purchasing-power comparisons show a separately selected inflation assumption. Goals sharing an account are modeled independently and can double-count the same funding.

Fee reports separate recorded costs from hypothetical future fees and their compounding effect. Unreported costs, taxes and changing rates are not inferred. Stress scenarios apply user-chosen shocks to broad asset groups; they are not historical crisis replays or probability models.

Plan readiness is a four-item checklist worth 25 points per item. It is not a credit score, investment grade, diversification rating or assessment of risk.

Accessibility

MarketLab targets WCAG 2.1 Level AA with labeled controls, keyboard access, visible focus, text explanations for charts, responsive layouts and reduced-motion support. A complete independent accessibility audit has not been completed, so we do not claim certified compliance.

If a control, chart or document prevents you from using the app, report the barrier and tell us which device and assistive technology you use. You can download structured reports as an alternative to reading charts.

Support and availability

Contact MarketLab support for help and read replies in your account. The project owner handles requests; no response-time guarantee is offered. The status page performs a current website and storage check. Continuous monitoring and an incident-history service are not yet in place.
